The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Hong Kong, a society registered under the Societies Ordinance since November 26, 2004, has been actively engaged in supporting the victims of the catastrophic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. In this time of national grief, we have undertaken a series of initiatives to express our solidarity and provide tangible relief.

Phase 1: Immediate Financial Support Following the HKSAR Government's establishment of the "Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po" with a start-up capital of HK$300 million, the Executive Committee of NRNA Hong Kong promptly convened and decided to contribute **HK$10,000** as a first-phase donation directly to the government's designated account on November 28. This gesture symbolizes our collective empathy and commitment to the city we call home.

Paying Tribute to the Departed On November 29, a delegation from NRNA Hong Kong visited the Henry G. Leong Yaumatei Community Centre to pay their respects. We signed the official Condolence Book arranged by the Home Affairs Department, offering our deepest prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. We encouraged all community members to visit their respective district memorial stations to pay their tributes.

Phase 2: Community Mobilization & Solidarity (Ongoing) Understanding the scale of the tragedy, NRNA Hong Kong launched a second phase of fundraising at our office. We are immensely proud to see the broader Nepalese community coming together for this humanitarian cause. This Phase 2 collection drive is currently active and ongoing at our office. We invite community members to contribute.

We specially acknowledge and thank our partner organizations for their generous direct contributions to the government fund:

  • Pun Magar Society Hong Kong: Donated HK$15,000

  • Tamu Tyo Hyula Hong Kong: Donated HK$10,000

  • Hong Kong Tamang Ghedung: Donated HK$ 1,500

Call for Continued Support We urge all Nepalese associations, businesses, and individuals in Hong Kong to continue extending their helping hands. To ensure direct and effective relief, we recommend depositing donations directly into the government's official accounts:

  • Bank: Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited

  • Account Name: Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po

  • Account No (HKD): 012-875-2-190159-7

In times of disaster, standing together is our greatest strength. Let us continue to support our fellow Hong Kong citizens with open hearts.
