NRNA HK Commends Consulate for Transit Visa Breakthrough

The Executive Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, National Coordination Council Hong Kong (NRNA HK) held a special "Meet and Greet & Congratulatory Program" with the Honourable Consul General of Nepal today. The meeting was a significant occasion marked by the celebration of a major diplomatic breakthrough and constructive dialogue on pressing immigration issues affecting our community.

The highlight of the discussion was the historic removal of the 'Transit Visa' requirement for Nepali passport holders by the Hong Kong SAR Government, effective from November 14, 2025. This provision, which had been a hurdle for Nepali travelers since 2004, has finally been lifted thanks to the persistent and successful diplomatic initiatives of the Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong. Recognizing this as a monumental achievement that enhances the prestige of the Nepal Government and provides immense relief to the Nepali community, NRNA Hong Kong formally extended its heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the Consul General and his entire team for this success.

Building on this positive momentum, the NRNA HK team utilized the platform to advocate for further diplomatic interventions regarding other critical Hong Kong immigration provisions. The committee engaged in a detailed discussion with the Consul General, urging for more favorable policies concerning the General Employment Policy (GEP), the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS), and regulations affecting Domestic Helpers. We emphasized the need for continued diplomatic dialogue to address these areas, hopeful that the Consulate's leadership will yield similarly positive results for the broader welfare of the community.
